Ric Addison, owner of the venerable Addison Hospitality Group (AHG), began his career 25 years ago, working with the likes of nightlife legends Ian Schrager and Rande Gerber. As the proud owner of Monarch Rooftop & Indoor Lounge, which opened in 2013, Addison was also instrumental in launching other sophisticated rooftop bars, including the renowned AVA Lounge at the Dream Hotel, THE BAR at Dream Hotel and the Inc Lounge at The Time Hotel. In 2017, he will add two new venues to the AHG portfolio – Magnolia Restaurant and Lovage Rooftop & Indoor Lounge, both located at 350 West 40th Street and slated to open simultaneously.

Addison first gained distinction and recognition with the opening of AVA Lounge at the Dream Hotel in 2002, pioneering the New York City rooftop lounge trend. Named “Best After Work Drink” spot by New York Magazine’s Best of New York issue, AVA Lounge quickly became one of the most sought after venues in New York City. Following the success of AVA Lounge, Addison introduced the chic lounge and restaurant, THE BAR at the Dream Hotel and the Inc Lounge at The Time Hotel, which became a Broadway celebrity hotspot that hosted Lady Gaga and Madonna in the VIP “Pool Room.”

In 2013, Addison opened Monarch Rooftop & Indoor Lounge, which quickly propelled to one of New York’s most highly-coveted nightlife hotspots. This rooftop oasis boasts an impressively expansive interior and exterior space of 5,000 square feet, 18 floors above Herald Square. Monarch comfortably accommodates more than 300 guests. The beautifully decorated space designed by Natalie Todorova of Gene Kaufman Architect, features a plush outdoor patio with cozy seating and offers a picturesque view of the Empire State Building. The Scandinavian décor of the interior lounge combined with the expansive outdoor patio make it the ideal lounge in which to escape, relax, and celebrate. And when the sun and temperatures go down, the fiery heat lamps ensure that you can bask in the surrounding moon drenched nightscape of the city well into the evening hours for those colder months.

Both Magnolia Restaurant and Lovage Rooftop & Indoor Lounge will offer superior service in a spectacular atmosphere that has distinguished AGH’s collection of nightspots and lounges from others. The secret to Addison’s success is working hard, whether it be behind the scenes adapting with social trends or evolving his business with his customers’ most current needs and wants. Addison also remains very involved with the daily operations, while he relies on his management team to “keep the machine parts moving in the right direction.” Standing on the cutting edge of the industry, Addison realizes that success in the hospitality business entails even the most minor of details to make a great restaurant and lounge.
