It’s rooftop bar season and here’s another to add to your list, should such a thing exist. Here’s a peek at Lovage on top of a building on West 40th Street.
The bar’s got some pizzazz, we’ll give it that. Mismatched upholstery, laser-cut glass on the walls, and that’s before you get to the views, which wrap around 360 degrees. You can spot several landmarks from up there and the enclosed glass means good viewing even in the rain or when it’s cold. There’s even a fireplace—add it to your fireplace list, too!
The Lovage Rooftop will be showing the Kentucky Derby and offering complimentary mint julep from 2-3 pm. Derby attire recommended as they will be offering food and drink specials along with a Best Hat contest. Make reservations at email@example.com
Continuing with our rooftop lounge series, we recently visited an obscure gem off the beaten path in midtown near the Hudson River. Lovage (a large, edible, white-flowered plant of the parsley family) is also a hotspot at the pinnacle of 40th street between 8th and 9th Avenues. Wait till you see the view and experience the impressive interior with its mirror brick wall and custom furniture upholstered by Christian Lacroix fabrics. A 360-degree vista show off the Empire State Building, Times Square, the Freedom Tower, the Statue of Liberty, the Hudson River…
Think you can’t have a big wedding on a rooftop in Manhattan? Monarch Rooftop provides 5,000 square feet of space for more than 300 guests 18 floors above Midtown. Oh, did we mention you’ll feel like you can reach out and touch the Empire State Building it’s so close? When you book a wedding here, you also get a complimentary champagne toast, an event planner, catering and alcohol, a dance floor, outdoor lighting, and more so you don’t have to worry about a thing.
While NYC was in a winter hibernation the beginning of this year, Magnolia Restaurant and Lovage Rooftop sneakily opened in Midtown West.
Hidden away west of Times Square, out of the tourist zone, this warm and inviting restaurant waits below an elevated cocktail oasis with a view of the electric city. The lounge is situated right next to the notorious Sky Room and boasts to have a space one floor higher at 37 floors above street level.
